Gustaf Rooth and his barrels

Posted on

Yesterday while in San Diego I swung by to say hello to the crew at Planet Rooth Design Haus and caught founder and fellow artist Gustaf Rooth just about to head out for a material pick up.  That might sound a bit boring but Gustaf is an artist and master craftsman from Sweden and founder of Barrellymadeit.com, a line of functional art created from bourbon and wine barrels. And today he was headed to Port Brewing in Escondido, CA to pick up spent bourbon barrels for his bourbon line.

Here is a tip for other photographers or anyone that owns a camera that looks professional even just a bit: whenever there is hard work to be done like moving 44 wine barrels grab your camera and say “I’m documenting your experience.”  This simple statement can get you out of a lot of heavy lifting.
